Elyse earned her B.A. in Psychology from Brandeis University and an M.Ed in Counseling from Boston University. She spent a decade working in the Victim/Witness Assistance Program as a counselor and advocate at the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office in Boston. With her husband she went on to found a successful family restaurant which she managed for twelve years.​

Elyse has long been actively involved with the senior population as a volunteer at Weston Manor/Epoch Living for 16 years while caring for her own mother.  There she organized numerous events and provided ongoing support to the community.  Currently she volunteers for the Neighbor Brigade, a service helping others during times of crisis.

Elyse is married to her high school sweetheart Stephen. Together they have two wonderful sons, Harley and Gabe, and a lovable Vizsla named “Ollie”.  They have been residents of Wayland for over 30 years.
